Hey, I'm Olivia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Toronto, Canada.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn't part of the long-term plan. As with many expat moves, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something much more significant.
The first months were intense — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Soft Current Lark
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or superficial tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Canada.
What This Site Covers (And Excludes)
This site includes:
- Real-world experiences from life in Canada
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- An official tourism guide resource
- Sponsored review site
- Just another generic travel blog
What’s Next
Our time in Canada continues, and the learning process goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Olivia
